'Roads to Equality' is a European Comenius 1 School Development Project : a partnership of five European Schools- Drammen Videregaende Skole - Drammen,Norway HBLA Kirchdorf an der Krems - Kirchdorf, Austria I.E.S. Hermanos D'Elhuyar - Logrono,Spain Obchodni Akademie - Teplice, Czech Republic Shawlands Academy - Glasgow, Scotland The project is a follow on from our first EU project and is in its third and final year. The aim of Comenius School Development projects is to extend the development plan of each partner school by an international partnership which agrees on a programme of work which relates to the school ethos and development plan but which also adds an international dimension. It also aims to develop teacher professionalism through international education. Each school has a Comenius team which agrees on the development work appropriate for its own school and in collaboration with its partner colleagues.
Our joint work has focused on equality and we aim to develop this in each school by 1. Developing school policies on Race Equality and developing policy on bilingualism 2. Promoting the development of student democracy structures in each partner school 3. Preparing teaching materials promoting the work of women writers, developing inclusive teaching methodology and thinking skills 4. Developing ICT as a teaching resource in each school 5. Coordinating a ceramic art project which depicts our joint aims and ethos The teaching materials and policy development are available on this site with links to our partner school and related sites.
Many of our colleagues have been using "Nicenet" as a file sharing and Communication tool. As a result there are several files and teaching materials still available on the Roads to Equality "classrooom".
